I. Transparent PVC fabric

Crystal PVC fabric is a transparent polyvinyl chloride membrane engineered for high optical clarity (90%+ light transmission). Through specialized plasticizers and calendering/extrusion processes, it achieves water resistance, flexibility, and moderate UV stability. Used in greenhouses, stadium roofs, and inflatable structures where visibility and weather protection are required, though it yellows faster than premium TPU alternatives.

Composition:

High-clarity PVC resin blended with non-yellowing plasticizers (e.g., DOTP/DINCH, 35–50 PHR) and UV stabilizers (HALS/Tinuvin). Optional acrylic/PVDF coatings enhance surface durability.

Manufacturing Process:

1.Calendering: PVC compound melted at 160–180℃, pressed into 0.2–1.5mm sheets via precision rollers.

2.Extrusion: Alternative method using T-dies; molten PVC cooled on polishing rollers (25–30℃) for >92% light transmission.

3.Surface Treatment: PVDF/acrylic topcoat applied (3–5μm) via gravure coating for UV/scratch resistance.

4.Quality Control: Optical haze <2% (ASTM D1003), plasticizer migration <0.5% (ISO 177).

Critical Parameters:

  • Plasticizer homogeneity to prevent haze
  • Cooling rate control for crystallization avoidance
  • Coating thickness uniformity (±0.02mm)

Key Requirements:

Precision plasticizer ratio (35–50 PHR) to avoid haze/migration

Performance Characteristics

Advantages

  • High initial transparency, some products can maintain high transparency and good color stability.
  • Thick texture, good waterproof, dustproof and oil-resistant.
  • Resistant to chemical corrosion from inorganic acids,Waterproof and oil-proof, easy to clean
  • Fire Safety: Flame resistant /Fire resistant available.
  • Low cost, suitable for temporary and short-term use.

Limitations

  • May turn yellow after prolonged use, and some additives may cause a slight bluish or yellowish tint.
  • Poor heat resistance, may decompose or deform at high temperatures; average wear and scratch resistance, prone to scratches.
  • After long-term use, aging phenomena (such as brittleness and cracking) may occur, which cannot be repaired by polishing or grinding.
  • May contain additives such as plasticizers, which can release toxic gases when burned.

Applications

The budget is limited, and the requirements for durability and environmental protection are not extremely demanding, such as disposable tablecloths, temporary coverings, ordinary packaging or indoor low-wear decorations, PVC transparent film is a good choice.

  • Budget constraints dominate (30–50% cheaper than TPU)
  • Short-term UV exposure (<5 years) is expected
  • Chemical resistance to inorganic acids is critical.

Common specifications :

Thickness:0.3mm /0.4mm /0.5mm/ 0.6mm /0.7mm /0.8mm

(In fact, 0.5mm thickness and above are generally made by merging two layers of film, just like 0.5mm is actually made by merging 0.2mm and 0.3mm.)

The current regular sizes (width) are 1.37M /1.4M /1.5M /1.6M /1.8M 2M

II. Crystal PVC mesh(Crystal PVC with Net Fabric)

At the same time, there is a special fabric in the PVC transparent fabric — Crystal PVC mesh fabric is a reinforced transparent material combining a crystal-clear PVC film with an embedded polyester/nylon scrim. The mesh significantly enhances tear and puncture resistance while maintaining 60-80% light transmission. Ideal for structural applications like storm-resistant greenhouses, zoo enclosures, and safety barriers where both visibility and extreme durability are critical in high-tension environments.

Composition:

Core Layer: Crystal-clear PVC film (DOTP/DINCH plasticized resin, 92%+ transparency)

Reinforcement: Embedded polyester/nylon scrim (500-1000 denier, grid density 1-5 threads/cm)

Surface: UV-resistant acrylic/PVDF topcoat (3-5μm)

Manufacturing Process:

1.Mesh Pre-treatment: Polyester/nylon scrim tensioned (20-30 N/cm) and pre-heated to 150°C.

2.Co-extrusion: PVC melt (175°C) pressure-laminated onto mesh at 100-300 gsm coating weight.

3.Calendering: Bonded layers compressed through rollers (∆n <0.02 refractive index match).

4.Curing: UV-stabilized topcoat applied, cured at 120°C.

Critical Parameters:

  • Peel adhesion >3.5 N/mm (ISO 8510-2)
  • Mesh alignment tolerance: ±0.5° deviation
  • Light diffusion >70% (ISO 13468)

Key Requirements:

Mesh alignment control; adhesion strength >3 N/mm² (ISO 8510-2)

Performance Characteristics

Advantages

  • Due to the reinforcement of the mesh base fabric, its tear resistance, puncture resistance and dimensional stability are far superior to pure PVC film. It is more resistant to repeated folding and friction.
  • Usually has higher transparency, can show the wrapped items inside.
  • Lower cost, with significant price advantage, more economical and affordable.

Limitations

  • It has higher transparency, but its mechanical strength and abrasion resistance may be slightly lower than that of heavy industrial-grade coated cloth.
  • Softness and extreme optical clarity are generally not as good as high-quality pure PVC films
  • Inferior to TPU in terms of elasticity, wear resistance, low temperature resistance and environmental friendliness (usually does not contain plasticizers)
  • The plastic feel may be stronger

Applications

For outdoor products, tents, bags, etc. that need to withstand greater mechanical pressure and harsh environments, and at the same time require light transmittance and visibility, PVC transparent mesh cloth (especially those with enhanced treatment) may be more suitable because they have a base fabric reinforcement and higher mechanical strength.

  • Structural integrity outweighs optical perfection (e.g., storm-proof greenhouses)
  • Puncture resistance is prioritized (e.g., zoo enclosures, construction barriers).
  • Balanced light transmission (60–80%) with hail/snow load resistance is needed.

Common specifications :

Yarns:200D, 300D, 500D, 1000D, 2000D

Knit/Inch:3×3, 4.5×4.5, 6×6, 9×9, 12×9, 18×12

Weight and thickness:240gsm – 2000gsm/0.25mm – 1.50mm

III. Crystal TPU fabric

Crystal TPU fabric is an optically clear thermoplastic polyurethane membrane made from aliphatic isocyanates. It offers exceptional UV stability (>90% clarity retention after 5+ years), extreme cold flexibility (-30°C), hydrolysis resistance, and high tensile strength. Used in premium inflatables, medical isolation tents, and architectural membranes where long-term transparency and durability are critical.

Composition:

Aliphatic thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) derived from hydrogenated MDI/HDI isocyanates + polyether polyols (non-yellowing), with UV stabilizers (HALS) and hydrolysis inhibitors (carbodiimide). Silicone coatings (optional) enhance surface slip.

Manufacturing Process:

1.Material Prep: TPU pellets dried 4–6h at 100°C (<0.05% moisture).

2.Extrusion: Melt-extruded through T-die at 170–210°C zone temperatures.

3..Casting: Molten TPU chilled on high-gloss rollers (20°C) for optical clarity (>90% transmission).

4.Post-Processing:

a.Corona treatment for adhesion

b.Silicone coating (1–3μm) via micro-gravure

c.Thermal curing (48h at 50°C) for crystallinity stabilization.

Critical Parameters:

  • Haze <3% (ASTM D1003)
  • Hydrolysis resistance: ≤5% strength loss after 500h (ISO 188)
  • UV stability: >90% clarity retention after 5,000h xenon arc (AATCC TM186)

Key Requirements:

Strict humidity control; polyether base for hydrolysis resistance

Performance Characteristics

Advantages

  • Thermoplastic polyurethane, no plasticizer, more environmentally friendly.
  • Nice high temperature resistance (about 120℃)6, better low temperature resistance
  • Very high initial transparency, potentially better anti-yellowing performance
  • The surface is smooth and flat, easy to clean and not easy to hide dirt.

Limitations

  • It has higher transparency, but its mechanical strength and abrasion resistance may be slightly lower than that of heavy industrial-grade coated cloth.
  • The price is expensive, and ordinary PVC coated cloth is a very low-cost material solution.

Applications

For those who require better transparency stability, wear resistance, and tear resistance, and are willing to pay a higher price, such as for high-end electronic product protective films, high-quality clothing breathable films, or car invisible car covers, TPU transparent film is a superior choice compared to PVC. In addition, for those who have high requirements for environmental protection and health and safety, especially in indoor environments, food contact (must confirm whether it is food grade), or children’s products, TPU material is usually a safer choice because it does not contain plasticizers and is more environmentally friendly.:

  • Lifetime >10 years under extreme UV/mechanical stress.
  • Sterilization, cold flexibility (-30°C), or recyclability is required.
  • Transparency retention is non-negotiable (e.g., observatory domes).
